Presidents Leadership Class (PLC) Scholarship

The Presidents Leadership Class (PLC) four-year program and scholarship for entering freshmen with a strong academic record, leadership initiative, depth of commitment to their interests, and a desire to better their community. PLC is a prestigious leadership development program for students from any college or major. PLC prepares students for the challenges of our rapidly changing world by cultivating academic and professional excellence, critical thinking, creative problem solving, ethical reasoning, thoughtful implementation, and community impact. Upon acceptance, scholars earn a one-year, $1000 scholarship. After their first year in the program, other scholarships available to PLC students only, become available for financial assistance.

  3. Why are you better suited than other applicants to make change in a community, either on a local or larger scale? What steps would you take to make that change? What obstacles might you need to overcome?
  4. In this two-part question, first, state a strong opinion that you hold on a relevant global issue and synthesize your values and how they inform your position. In the second part, argue the same issue from the perspective of someone who disagrees with you, and analyze the possible values and arguments that might inform their side of the issue.
  5. We would like you to share a particular accomplishment of which you are very proud. Examples of this may be a dance performance, an instrumental recital, a debate, a speech, a piece of artwork you created, photography, etc. This does not include lengthy written papers (research, thesis, etc.) However, written pieces including shorter papers, poems, plays, music compositions, etc. are welcome.
