Carol B. Lynch Graduate Fellowship

The Carol B. Lynch Graduate Fellowship for Graduate Students in the Sciences
Dr. Carol B. Lynch, now retired, was the Dean of the Graduate School and Vice Chancellor for Research at the University of Colorado at Boulder from 1992 to 2004. She also held the rank of Professor in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and was a Fellow of the Institute for Behavioral Genetics.
During her tenure as Dean of the Graduate School and Vice Chancellor for Research, the graduate school at the University of Colorado at Boulder won major national awards in graduate education and was an invited participant in national initiatives on innovations in graduate education. In addition, sponsored research achieved record levels.
The Carol B. Lynch Graduate Fellowship Fund was established to honor Dr. Lynch for her tireless dedication to graduate education and research at the national level and at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
The $2,500 fellowship will be awarded to a student in the sciences whose research interests are interdisciplinary.
Eligibility/Criteria:
Those departments and programs that choose to nominate a student may nominate no more than two students. The student’s research interest MUST be interdisciplinary in nature.
The nominee must be a continuing student (students graduating this spring or summer are not eligible).
All nominees must have a minimum GPA of 3.5.
The selection of each year’s winner will be made by a faculty committee which will report its recommendation to the Graduate School.
Nominating Materials:
1) A letter from the student’s academic advisor describing the nature of the student’s work.
2) A copy of the nominee’s most recent transcript (official or unofficial)
The fellowship will be placed on the student’s Fall 2019 tuition bill. If there is no outstanding balance the student will receive a refund of the award. NOTE: This award may affect the student’s financial aid package.
