Patty Feist Scholarship

The Patty Feist Scholarship is a one-year award for the benefit of an undergraduate student who is a survivor of childhood, adolescent, or young adult cancer (cancer diagnosis up to age 21). Because childhood cancer can place heavy burdens on a family’s finances and on a survivor’s academic performance, Patricia (Patty) Feist established this scholarship in 2010 to assist undergraduate cancer survivors achieve an education at the University of Colorado Boulder. Three scholarships of $2500 are awarded per year.

To be eligible for consideration, students must:

  • Complete the CU Boulder General Scholarship Application by the deadline
  • Complete the supplemental questions for this scholarship
  • Submit two letters of recommendation from teachers, friends, employers, community leaders, or parents.

Supplemental Questions
  1. Discuss your educational goals and how your personal cancer experiences affected those goals. How will you apply what you've learned from the cancer experience to make a difference in the world? What have you learned about yourself from the cancer experience? Why is a college education a critical part of your life? (750 world limit)
  2. Please upload documentation to verify the cancer diagnosis and treatment, such as a copy of the treatment summary that you received at the post-treatment consultation or a letter from your treatment team verifying the diagnosis and treatment for cancer. Medical information will be kept confidential and will only be used to verify eligibility for the scholarship.
  3. Please submit two letters of recommendation from teachers, friends, employers, community leaders, or parents.
