Beardsley Family Scholarship; Center of the American West

The George B. Beardsley Family Scholarship is provided through the Center of the American West and the University of Colorado Boulder. Recipients of the George B. Beardsley Family Scholarship are awarded for one year This is a one-time scholarship.

To be considered for this scholarship, you must:

  • Be a currently enrolled full-time undergraduate student at the University of Colorado Boulder
  • Be currently enrolled in the Western American Studies Certificate Program at Center of the American West
  • Remain enrolled full-time during the entire academic year of the award period
  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Past recipients are eligible to apply for a second Beardsley Scholarship during their time at CU Boulder. If selected, the second award is limited to a maximum of $2,000. Applicants may receive the scholarship no more than twice.

How to Apply

To be eligible for consideration, applicants must:

  • Complete the CU Boulder General Scholarship Application.
  • Complete the supplemental questions and arrange for a current or former instructor or work supervisor to submit a letter of recommendation on your behalf. Letters of Recommendation must be received by March 15.

Your answer might include particular western topics of interest to you, a book that inspired you, memories of traveling in or growing up in the west, and/or career ambitions or other goals that may have influenced your decision to enroll in the Western American Studies certificate program.
