"Like Water" Scholarship in A&S (Renewable)

The Like Water Scholarship in A&S (Renewable) is provided through the College of Arts & Sciences Dean’s Office. Recipients of the Like Water Scholarship in A&S (Renewable) are awarded for one-year, and the scholarship is renewable for up to four years.

To be considered for this scholarship, you must:

  • Be a first-year incoming undergraduate student enrolled full-time in the upcoming academic year with a declared major in the College of Arts & Sciences.
  • Demonstrate commitment to personal growth, creative problem-solving, and perseverance in academic and personal pursuits.

Renewal Criteria
To be eligible to renew this scholarship each year, recipients are required to enroll as full-time undergraduate students each fall and spring semesters with a declared major in the College of Arts & Sciences, maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA each year, and meet SAP eligible.

To honor the influence of Bruce Lee’s philosophy and his groundbreaking contributions to martial arts, philosophy, and global cultural understanding, the “Like Water Scholarship” was established by the Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences, Daryl Maeda, and based on his recent book titled, _Like Water: A Cultural History of Bruce Lee _(NYU Press, 2022). This scholarship aims to support students who embody the spirit of adaptability, resilience, and continuous self-improvement.
