Van Gerven Merit Scholarship
The Van Gerven Merit Scholarship is provided through the Arts & Sciences Honors Program and the University of Colorado Boulder. Recipients of the Van Gerven Merit Scholarship are awarded for one-year and the scholarship is renewable annually until completion of recipient’s first bachelor’s degree.
To be eligible for consideration, applicants must:
- Be an incoming first-year undergraduate student with a major in the College of Arts & Sciences planning to participate in the A&S Honors Program at CU Boulder.
- A graduate from a Colorado High School.
- Must be a first-generation college student.

- Complete the CU Boulder General Scholarship Application.
Renewal Criteria
To be eligible to renew this scholarship each year, recipients are required to enroll as full-time undergraduate students each fall and spring semester with a major in Arts & Sciences, maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA each academic year, and meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)..
Recipients are also required to participate in the CU Boulder Honors Program by taking an honors course every semester. This scholarship is renewable through completion of a first-time bachelor’s degree.
This scholarship aims to support the lived and individual experiences and achievements of first-generation college students.
