Reilly News-Editorial Scholarship--CMDI

Scholarships within the college are awarded to provide financial support based on need, academic achievement, or other specific scholarship criteria as outlined below.
The Rick Reilly News-Editorial Scholarship was established by Rick Reilly. Reilly is an alumnus and commentator for ESPN. Students interested in a career in news gathering in the College of Communication, Media, Design and Information are eligible to apply. Preference is given to first generation college students or students from under-represented groups. Underrepresented students include those students from geographic areas and socioeconomic backgrounds who are historically underrepresented in the field of news gathering and/or students who have faced unusual adversity.
Selection Criteria
Applications are reviewed holistically, and selection criteria may include, but is not limited to, academic record, leadership experience, extracurricular involvement, community service, employment, essays, and in some cases, financial need as determined by the FAFSA/CASFA.
Essays: Quality of writing and content are weighed heavily.
Financial Need: The FAFSA and the Colorado Application for State Financial Aid (CASFA) are the mechanisms approved for calculating financial need for need-based scholarship awarding.
