Dr. Leonhard E. Baak Memorial Scholarship for German Studies Majors
The Leonhard Baak Memorial Scholarship is provided through the Department of Germanic & Slavic Languages & Literatures and the University of Colorado Boulder. Recipients of the Leonhard Baak Memorial Scholarship are awarded for one year. This is a one-time scholarship.
Dr. Baak received his PhD in German from the University of Colorado Boulder in 1953, and served as a professor of German at St. Olaf College (Northfield, MN), College of Emporia (Emporia, KS), and Morningside College (Sioux City, IA).
Students may receive up to $8,000 per year for up to four years. Must remain a German Studies major in good academic standing to be eligible for renewal.
Students studying abroad may also apply for additional funds through the Leonhard Baak Memorial Scholarship for Study Abroad by indicating on the application form that they will study abroad.
To be considered for this scholarship, you must:
- Be an incoming or current undergraduate student majoring in German.
- Preference given to students with demonstrated financial need according to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid or CASFA.
Financial need and/or academic excellence will be considered when determining scholarship awards.
