Cancer Impact Scholarship in Arts & Sciences

The Cancer Impact Scholarship is provided through the College of Arts & Sciences Dean’s Office. Recipients of the Cancer Impact Scholarship are awarded for one-year, and the scholarship is a one-time scholarship.

To be considered for this scholarship, you must:

  • Be an incoming first-year, transfer, or current undergraduate student enrolled full time in the upcoming academic year with a declared major in the College of Arts & Sciences.
  • Have a minimum high school or transfer GPA of 3.5 or a cumulative CU GPA of 3.0.
  • Have suffered adverse financial circumstances due to a caregiver who suffered from cancer.

How to Apply
To apply for consideration, you must:
• Complete the CU Boulder General Scholarship Application
• Complete this application plus all requested materials by the deadline.

Preference is given to students with demonstrated financial need. Note: Supplemental materials (essay plus two letters of recommendation) are due by the scholarship deadline of March 15th. Late submissions will not be accepted.

Supplemental Questions
  1. Provide a personal essay explaining how cancer has affected a caregiver in your life and the circumstances that have led to financial need. It is recommended that you devote a portion of your essay to describing a plan for succeeding in school and in life despite these adverse circumstances. (1,000 word limit)
  2. Provide the name and email address of a friend, teacher, or employer (1st person of reference) to submit a letter of recommendation on your behalf. Each letter of recommendation should be from a person with whom you share a different relationship.
